Which formats are accepted?

Boleto is a Brazilian payment document. Cobrança lines have 47 digits; arrecadação lines have 48 and start with 8. For 44-digit barcodes, a leading 8 identifies arrecadação; others are treated as cobrança in Brazilian reais. Uncommon layouts are outside scope.

Can a false document have correct check digits?

Yes. Check digits indicate mathematical consistency only. They do not authenticate a document or identify its beneficiary, registration or payment status.

What does a mismatch mean?

There may be a transcription error or an unsupported layout. Check the document’s source and contents. This tool does not correct or generate payment codes.

Are the numbers stored?

No. Input stays only in page memory. Clearing or reloading removes it; shared links do not include input. Copied summaries show only the last four digits.

Why are amount, due date and beneficiary omitted?

The scope is checking format and digits without interpreting dates or amounts or contacting banks. Verify those details with the document’s source.

Sources and method

Cobrança uses modulo 10 for blocks and modulo 11 for the general digit. Arrecadação uses modulo 10 for references 6/7 and modulo 11 for 8/9, with its own rules. Sources accessed September 17, 2026.
