Is the text sent to the server?

No. Analysis happens in the browser. Text only enters the page URL if you enable the option to include text in the link.

What is the difference between characters with and without spaces?

The no-spaces count removes spaces, tabs, and line breaks. The main count preserves everything you typed.

Does an emoji count as one character?

When supported by the browser, emoji and letters with combining marks are counted as one visible grapheme.

Why can word counts vary?

Editors and platforms may use their own rules for abbreviations, symbols, hashtags, and languages. This tool uses browser segmentation with a fallback.

Can I share already filled text?

Yes, but only after enabling the option to include text in the link. Use that only when recipients are allowed to read the content.

About the character counter

The counter calculates characters with spaces, characters without spaces, words, lines, non-empty lines, paragraphs, sentences, and UTF-8 bytes in the browser. Byte counts are useful for systems with storage or payload limits, especially with accents and emoji.

How to count characters online
