How to estimate IPVA
Multiply the taxable value by the applicable rate: BRL 50,000 × 4% = BRL 2,000 annual IPVA in a hypothetical example. The discount uses the tax rounded to cents; installments divide the undiscounted total, allocating remaining cents to the earliest payments.
Finding the official value and rate
Consult the Brazilian state treasury for the tax year and vehicle category. Current FIPE value is not necessarily the fiscal base. For 2025, 2026 or another year, supply the corresponding base and rules; selecting a year does not retrieve historical tables or validate future rules.
Sources and updates

São Paulo law and Minas Gerais guidance support base × rate without generalizing state rules. The SP law is dated December 23, 2008, with a listed update of January 14, 2026; the MG page gives no update date. Discounts, bases and payment rules vary by state and year. Check official information before use and for each new tax year. Sources are in Portuguese.
Full-year estimate for a used vehicle, not a tax assessment, payment document or debt lookup. Excludes exemptions, proration, fines, interest, licensing and other fees. A zero rate does not establish exemption. Cent allocation is not an official schedule; confirm rules, minimum amounts and deadlines with the state treasury. Official rounding may differ.
Frequently asked questions
Does selecting a UF fill in the rate?
No. UF and year are reference labels; you supply all financial parameters.
Is FIPE the official taxable value?
Not necessarily. Consult the state treasury for the official value for your tax year.
Does this check exemptions or debts?
No. We do not look up debt, vehicle identifiers or exemption eligibility.
Can I pay in any number of installments?
Only if your state permits it. This split is illustrative and does not validate minimums, deadlines or schedules.
Does the upfront discount apply to installments?
Not in this model: the supplied discount only reduces the upfront payment.
